When I was nine, up my grandfather once said to me “do what you feel is best in life and choose a line of work that you love even if it means making less money”. I understand that his advice to my nine year old self sounds insanely generic but I have always kept his advice to heart.
If I am ever lucky enough to have grandchildren of my own I will tell him/her the same thing but with an amendment: “Do what you feel is best in life, choose a line of work that you love even if it means making less money, become a creator rather than the gear to a creation that is not your own, never doubt your ambition even when others do including family”.
Sounds cheesy I know.
